Jetzen,
As usual very nice and healthy calkings and thanks for the pics. A calking was the first snake I ever owned and I have a soft spot for them, even though I'm really captivated by the mexicana subpsecies right now. Now, let's see of your mexicanas and post them in the mexicana forum.
Jetzen, I'm feeding most of my snakes today and your welcome to come over anytime and hold a jumbo mouse or small rat by the tail to feed my Brazilian Rainbow Boa (hehehe my BRB has a very strong and aggresive feeding response). Just kidding man and I always enjoy seeing pics of your great collection and don't listen to the haters.
Happy Herping,
Uncloudy

JETZEN May 07, 2005 06:42 PM

I just fed all TEN of mexicana types this morning, how about some old pics?
i'll pass on the rainbow their teeth are too big,LOL!

Uncloudy May 07, 2005 06:55 PM

Jetzen I'll wait for new the pics, I want to see how big they've gotten too.
What mexicanas or similiar do you have?

Thayeri?
Mex Mex?
Mex Greeri?
Rutheveni?

It would be cool to see pics of all of them man.
Happy Herping,
Uncloudy

Uncloudy May 08, 2005 03:42 AM

Here's the pic you requested and I don't think you could've used master in hand feeding technique with this one. lol

JETZEN May 08, 2005 09:41 AM

Thanks! and here's a old pic of my Greeri I will be getting new pics up of my Mexicana complex next wknd (all 10)

Sweet_Pickle May 07, 2005 04:17 PM

... Does the thought of a thawed and wet mouse carcass draped over your hand strike you as "odd" in any way?

Just curious...

Image

ZFelicien May 07, 2005 11:23 PM

i love the orange on those!!!! that'll def. improve the blaze phase...

where'd you say you got those from again?

~ZF

JETZEN May 07, 2005 11:32 PM

Sorry don't die!lol, you are one of the few that don't mind my pics!lol. K & N reptiles, Westwego, La.

Kerby... May 07, 2005 10:46 PM

But your 1.3 are not het for Blizzard, they are actually double hets (albinism & melanism). A Blizzard cal king is a snake that is displaying 2 recessive genes at the same time (albinism & melanism). We see this same mistake in the Cornsnake industry where people say corns are het for snow. There is no such thing. Snow in cornsnakes is also a cornsnake that is displaying 2 recessive genes at the same time (anery & amel). You can never have a corn snake that is het for snow and you can never have a cal king that is het for blizzard. You can have a cornsnake that is a double het (anery & amel) and a cal king that is a double het (albino & melanism).

Kerby...

JETZEN May 07, 2005 11:25 PM

Thanks for the info. It's funny how honest mistakes can travel down the line.

Kerby... May 08, 2005 12:05 PM

but if left uncorrected then the situation gets worse. I still see on the classifieds snakes "het" for high white etc.. LOL

mattcbiker May 07, 2005 05:15 PM

That's a beautiful pic there Jetzen. I really like the "hood" that Cali has on, looks bad ass!! I don't mind your in-hand pics and I understand with all your snakes, that's pretty much the only time you have to take their pics.

With that mentioned, I have to say this is one of your best pics.

Check out my new pics of my '04 Bullsnake in the Bull forum.

Thanks and i remember when you scored that floridana. Very nice! i like your eastern girl better tho.

billsanostrich May 07, 2005 05:37 PM

Hey JETZEN, how big are your 03's??... How about your 04's??

I have a Cal King, and I dont't know out how old it is.(oops-didn't get it as a yearling) I guess it's in the 03-04 age range, so I guess I will know when I find out how big yours are.

Thanks,
Tim

JETZEN May 07, 2005 05:56 PM

my 01' is about 4.5'

02's are about 3.5-4'

03's are about 2.5-3'

04's are about 18", i've got a hunch these thin bands are gonna get HUGE for cals

if ya like big kings go for the floridana or easterns

HerperHelmz May 07, 2005 06:50 PM

Nice pics as always Jetzen, you breeding anything this year? Seems like you've got lots of sexually mature snakes.

I'm not divulging my breeding plans(you know how the jinxes is)
sorry, and super nice snake with a fantastic feeding response! whata ya think of this one?

bluerosy May 07, 2005 08:34 PM

JETZEN May 08, 2005 12:54 AM

Here's one i bought from you in Nov.03'
pic taken day of arrival, do you still produce these?
Image

bluerosy May 08, 2005 09:59 AM

Nice pic. Would like to see pics of what they look like today if possible?

I don't breed those anymore. I got out of a few things to make room for some newer double hets and stuff. I don't breed the eastern x hypo brooksi any longer either. Just the F1 hets and F2 hypo easternXhypos.

Here is the F2 hypo. I really have to get new pics of this snake soon. It is really turning out pink. Thing is it seems she's always in the blue because I feed her so much.

thomas davis May 08, 2005 12:07 PM

f2hypo easternXfla. man thats very nice love to see more pics of that one ,,,,,,,thomas

bluerosy May 08, 2005 01:11 PM

Thanks. That snake is more stunning now thats it is bigger. I will have to wait for its next shed to get more pics.

I only produced this one hypo last year due to the mother being young and having a smaller than normal clutch size. This year she is gravid again and I am waiting for her to lay any day. I will post pics of that clutch about mid July.

HerperHelmz May 07, 2005 09:08 PM

f/t

Yeah, that eastern milk has a strong feeding response, strongest out of all the easterns I've ever had. Now I just need to get him a mate for next year.

Nice snake, sinaloan milk? I've got 1.2 of those...

It's a New Mexican(celaenops)sold to me as a sinaloan. You got a killer sinaloan there, i have a 2.2 02's and 03's.
let's see ya try to feed TWO at a time "ringneck master"lol
Image

HerperHelmz May 08, 2005 11:21 AM

lol, the way mine eat, it wouldn't be hard at all to feed 2, or even 3 at a time. But, I won't put them together, because then I won't know which snake belongs to which enclosure lol, so it wouldn't turn out too good.

I was doing this stuff b/4 you was born and snakefood is snakefood, rodents/reptiles or whatever.

Uncloudy May 08, 2005 03:44 AM

Jetzen for a minute I thought that might be another Neuvo Leon thayeri. Here's my male 2004.

JETZEN May 08, 2005 09:49 AM

Originaly That's what i thought, that's why i bought it, the place i got it from thought sinaloan, it was identified on the milksnake forum as a New Mexican milk(i still think it looks more thayeri than celeanops)

Steve_Craig May 07, 2005 08:50 PM

Interesting that the the last Cal. King you had pictured is the only one that refuses to eat out of your hand. Jetzen, what is in your collection as far as ratsnakes? How are they for you, as far as feeding out of your hand? You'll have to pop a few photos over on the Ratsnake forum when you get a chance. Seems I remember you had a nice looking adult Gray Ratsnake.

JETZEN May 07, 2005 09:28 PM

Unfortunately i traded off my awsome 02' 1.1 spiloides and a nasty everglades (glad to see that one go) I still have 0.2 04' lindheimers from thomas, a 02' lucy and a 02' bubblegum. Some rats will most don't.(eat in hand)
