Kingsnakes and Salmonella

twilightfade212 May 07, 2005 10:52 PM

I was wondering what the chances are of someone getting salmonella poisoning from their kingsnakes. I always use proper hygeine when dealing and cleaning after my snakes, but I was just wondering. If anyone happens to know, please let me know, thanks.

Is it possible, I've heard that it is, I believe that it is, but I have no personal experience. I figure if you wash your hands after dealing with snake issues the there shouldn't be a problem.
And if you use proper hygiene techniques then you have no worries.

Def. wash your hands after this!!!!

If you ever cook with chicken you have a better chance of getting it from chicken than reptiles. If you keep your clages clean and wash your hands after cleaning and handling any pet ( reptile or mammal) you will be ok. You also have a better chance of getting salmonella from a cat than a reptile. If your worried about it from a hsus propaganda just take what they say and flush it down the toilet , its mostly lies and propaganda to get more donations to line there pockets. hope this helps you out Paul

Thank you both for your answers. What brought this question up was reading articles about salmonella on the net.

By the way, what kind of snake it that, ZFelicien? It's a very good looking kingsnake.
