Can a snake go into shed and decide later that it doesn't want to?

kimusubi May 08, 2005 12:25 AM

My snake about a week ago, went into shed. I know this because her eyes were clouded up, and looked slightly blue. And now, only after 5 days, her eyes look just like normal. Now that was really weird for me 'cause there wasn't a trace of skin anywhere in the cage. So I figured I pick her up, but then she started getting really scared. So now I'm really confused, and not sure what I should do from this point. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

I have a few that do that... they normally shed within 2 weeks. Just give her a mist and don't handle her either. The only time you have a problem is when they have a dry shed... which is when they begin actual shedding, but can't get the skin off don't fret!

Are you sure? 'Cause her skin looks fairly new. And she seems to be fine with handling today, since I picked her up. I'm also about to feed her. Is she still in shed? And should I not feed her?

It is not uncommon for both my BRB & Spotted Python to do that. I usually find a good, clean shed within a few days. Not sure why they do that but I would treat her like she's shedding, keep her wet & I'm sure she'll be fine!
