My brother was given a 2 1/2 foot.

From the looks of the snake someone has been over feeding it. half of it is real big and the uper half is normal.

They were feeding it 4 feeder mice a week! They fed it 2 monday, and again thursday.

I am in charge of care of the snake now.

Should I try to wean it down to one mouse a week? I read that a boa of this size should have a fuzzy or pre-weaned mouse. I also read "power feeding" like they did takes years off the snake's life.

This snake is so sweet an nice. I don't want to take years from it. lol.

I already bought 4 mice. I plan to knock the mouse out then offer it to the snake. I am seriously thinking of feeding it less.

1 mouse this coming monday and another thursday. The poor thing. Give me your opinions.

Boas do not need to be fed as much as a colubrid. A good feeding schedule is once every 7 to 10 days. Once they start feeding on a weened rat, once every 10 to 14 days is good. When they start on medium to large rats a once every 2 to 3 weeks is plenty.
You are right if a boa is feed to heavy it will shorten its life.
Good luck with your new boa.
