I have a few baby allisnappers that have white patches on their skin.Im assuming that it is fungus on their skin. Can anyone tell me how to treat it
I had two baby alligator snappers in the same tank for a while and they didn't seem to get along. They both were constantly swimming around in the tank trying to get out. Anyway, I had some rocks for them to hide under in the tank and from swimming against them they actually wore off some of the outer layer of their skin. These spots were white. Are the white spots you see in areas that could be subject to rubbing against rocks? Before you panic about fungus make sure this hasn't happened.
You might as well treat them for fungus anyway, because it's pretty cheap and they tend to nip each other when feeding anyway. Whether they get open wounds from rubbing against rocks or snapping at each other, you're pretty much bound to have some quantity of fungus in the water, and the wounds will get infected with time. By some sulfa dip or some ick off and follow the instructions. Betadyne also helps heal up the wounds and kill bacteria that might be in them.
