Photo Editor and Windows XP

peterUK Jul 11, 2003 05:23 PM

Could anyone recomend a Photo Editor program that goes well with Windows XP ? I recently downloaded Roxia 7.0 for a trail period (one month) and deleted it after 3 days, What a pile of doggie doings!!!!!. Also can someome please tell me how to save photo's from the internet while using windows XP ? If the photo is already in JPEG format saving is normal but if it is any other type of format i.e ART,GIF or BITMAP I can save it but XP cannot open it. The only way to get around this is to e-mail the photo to myself and then open it into Paint and then I can save it into JPEG format so that I can see it !!! Not a very good way to save Photo's.
I really wish that I had kept my old computer with Windows 98 on it

Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements is still the best. Elements can be purchased for under $100 US and is well worth the price.

You should be able to right click on any image online and choose "Save Image As" and make sure it saves it as the correct type of image (if it is a GIF, make sure it saves it as one). Then you should be able to double click it and open it (assuming you have some sort of program associated with it in your file associations). Or you could right click on it after it is saved and choose Open with and choose one of the choices displayed.

If that isn't working, the problem isn't XP, it is something about your file associations on your machine.
