This little guy was found yesterday so I got a shot of him inside my cactus patch. Pictures don't do him justice, the colors on him were much brighter than the photo shows but he is so beautiful. I wanted him to stay but no we didn't keep him because I can't stand the thought of keeping a healthy one who doesn't need me no matter how much I wanted to. He needs to stay in the wild & make more turtles that are as pretty as he is.
Now I hope the picture doesn't show up gigantic. lol

Here's another shot from a different angle.

Wow, he's gorgeous! Does this mean boxie hibernation season is ending there? ::crosses fingers for Hope::

an Ornate and a very handsome boy too. it's hard to see them go, even when you know their needed out there more. boxies are getting harder and harder to find in the wild where I'm at. we used to find them all the time in the woods when I was a kid.

very nice shot of a very nice specimen.

I don't know if I would have let it go... yeaaa, I would have. Especially since it wandered into your back yard and they are territorial.

ps, the sizing of the picture was perfect.

PinkNailPolish yes it means the boxies are out but sadly searching for Hope is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I search, I'll keep searching but I'm losing hope of ever finding Hope.
You know as often as I find injured, needy ones my guess is I'll wind up with more anyway, sooner or later.
As for that gorgeous male & my willpower oh my gosh I almost didn't make it with letting him go. I kept him here over night because of impending stormy weather but the next morning as I watched him desperately walk the fence line looking for a way out I had to let him go. I'd feel so bad if I took a healthy one from the wild & kept it, it's just not right to do it so I had to let him out. I couldn't take him captive knowing that he can breed more out there.
We don't have the new pen built yet for the girls I do have, so I'm hoping if another rescue happens this year it won't be until after that pen is ready.
But maaaaaan that boy was gorgeous, maybe like Hobo the other wild male that lives around here, I'll see him again & he can be Hobo #2 lol.
