I was cleaning my crested gecko cage that contains 1.1. Well i took them both out to clean the cage and they wondered away from each other. The female wen and the open door of the screen cage and the male went onto my glass table where there is a spider plant (sorry im being so specific lol....im sayin all this just incase one of these detail may be the reason why this happened). Then i turned the vacume on to suck up some dead crix. Then i looked over at my male and he had his tail and buldge twited up pointing out and there was some "stuff" oozing/dripping out. Then he started licking it off intensly. I know that this has happened to other ppl, but why did he do that? lol.
Also, i just introduced a female to him exactly 2 weeks ago. I know this is too soon to expect eggs(i havnt even seen them mate), but i think i may have purchased a gravid female. How can you tell when they are gravid? I have only had her for two weeks so i don't know if this is her normal weight, but she is FAT.....she is quite bigger than my male also. And by the way, i bought this gecko and one other from PM Gecko and these two geckos are the HEALTHIES, FATTEST, MOST GORGIOUS geckos. I would highly reccomend them.
This is an inprtant question: I just put a 1-1.5" deep tin foil-ish pan in the crested cage for her to lay her eggs. I filled it with peat moss because it is all that i have at the monment. Is this OK for the tim being? And also if you could let me know what would be best for an egg laying chamber....i have read things but i preffer to know what everyone does personally.
I also might as well type this too. I am getting my 1.1 cresteds a 29 gal tank tuesday. Do you all think that is a good size? Right now i have them in a small fresh air habitat, which i warn you all is a pain in the butt. It is small and it is a pain to clean......mostly because you can't access the bottom as easy when you really want to clean it (like in a sink or tub).....you kinda have to angle it so the junk can go up and out. I think that they make much better screen cages with multile doors that swing out and have a bottom access. But basically i am tired of the screen now and im movin them to a larger tank.
Thanks for any answers to my question and your comments ahead of time!
John
