Heres a pic for you folks with little girls and guys!

This is SATO, the destroyer! I've cared for this guy for about seven years. He was around 1 foot SNTV when I got him. I used to look at all the Iguana books with pictures of big adult males and dreamed of the day mine would be that big. Well that day only took about three years. He is a vary tame Iguana towards humans but doesn't care for other animals. Hes almost 6 feet and somwhere between 15 and 20 lbs. Everybody in my family always asked "What are you going to do when hes six feet?" I always replied "What do you mean, hes with me til' the end!" Hope you enjoy!

Is it a possum? SOOOOOO cute!I have possums in my house in BRazil but i never thought about raising one as a pet!Do they become tame?

I dont think the mom will allow me to take one of her babies.I dont even know where she hides them!Its a pity because my dogs often kill the possuns that live in my garden and i could take care of the orphan babies if i knew where the mom hides them.

Flavia Guimaraes May 09, 2005 10:55 PM

Congratulations!Not easy to raise them, right?lol!Lots of love and care!

I have 2 big males too, around 5 years old and 5,6 feet.Although they are not easy to raise and my arms have lots of scars ill keep them till the end, too!

Happy to know you love your ig that much!!))

The funny thing is that I worked in retail for a short time selling reptiles and I always did my best to discourage people from buying Green Iguanas. I wish I could set their price at $1000.00, $24 is a disposable price, I truly feel that even the most avid reptile keepers are not prepared for the requirements of Green Iguanas over the long haul, especially big males. Your guy looks great too, love the spikes! Its weird to me but SATO has the biggest jowls I've ever seen, I've been coast to coast and haevn't seen a guy his size.

Youre right.I have 9 reptiles at home, 6 different species and my iguanas are by far the most difficult and painful to raise! Those sharp nails and tails.My poor arms!lol!

You are right again, your iguana has huges jowls and lots of loose skin around his neck.I dont remember have seen another one like that.Do you know from which country he came?

I read in a book a long time ago that the Roman looking nose comes from a certain region in Central America, I think. Who knows for sure. I know hes not Peruvian

Here is a picture of Iggi last November. We hope she will get 6 feet. Right now she is 4 years old, 56 inches snout to tal, and 10 pounds.

Hello Reptilegirl;
It's been while since I have seen you post. I'm glad you let Kiwi free roam in your bedroom. Do you have any recent pictures of Kiwi? Thanks for the compliments about Iggi. Here is a more recent picture of her just after her bath.
