Boa Sokaing it up!!

cat0623 May 08, 2005 06:41 PM

Anyone else's RTB do this? Her cage is 83degrees ambiant, and her basking area is 90 - a degree. Humidity is at 55%. She is never in her hide box, but ALWAYS in her pond. We have a 10 filtered pond in her enclosure for her. She has been to see her Doctor, and she is perfectly healthy. No bugs, or bacteria, nothing. She will stay in the water for, no kidding, 18-20 hours a day. I know the RTB likes to soak, but come on. Any thoughts? I will post a picture when my camera starts working again. Don't know if this helps, but she is 6 years old, and about 6 1/2 feet long.

Normally when I see a boa soaking for long periods of time, unless they are shedding, I would suspect one of two things. First is her environment allowing her to thermoregulate the way she wants too....too hot, and the second thing I would suspect would be mites.
