Ready to lay eggs.....BUT

oldskool28 May 08, 2005 09:10 PM

I have 1 female due to lay on Wednesday , and 2 to lay next week . All Ovulated (witnessed) , pre-lay shed , started laying warm , lumping in body , and laying in perfect coil but...not one of the three girls have layed inverted yet , is this strange? All are definetly gravid but this charactoristic of gravid girls is the most known(laying inverted) and I haven't seen it yet . Upside down fears ?lol Any comments would be great , Thanks

A lot of my females never lay inverted. I have noticed that my older really big females lay inverted even when they are not gravid. Different snakes different behavior.

It really doesn't matter if they lay inverted...some females do it...some don't. It all just depends on the snake and how she feels comfortable. No worries man you're doin good.
Good luck

Females won't always do it. My male even does it on occasion.

From what I witnessed from the two the gave me eggs so far this season, neither would lay inverted when they were gravid. However, I do have one due to drop sometime next week and she has been inverted a few times when I checked on her.

My gravid balls rarely lay inverted. My males and hatchlings do all the time though. Just consider it one of many signs but one that is not required.
