i got a fire bellied newt on friday.he has not gone under water at all.he just sits on the floating plants at tyhe top.also he is not eating.i have the right temps and every thing.whats go'n on?

That's all most newts do, sit around all day and do nothing. The not eating is stress from being in a new environment. Keep offering appropriate-sized live foods, such as earthworms or small crickets, and it will probably eat soon.
Make sure you have the RIGHT temperatures (the colder the better). Firebellies should not be kept in temperatures over 72F or so.
