Do Armadillo Lizards Go Off Feed?

ginebig May 08, 2005 09:44 PM

I've got a pair of forest armadillo lizards that I got last summer. They haven't eaten in about four weeks. Up till then they were slammin' mealworms daily. In this period they have probably eaten six mealworms between them. They have grown a bit so may be coming into sexual maturity, which may explain it, but I know virtually nothing about these guys. Another thing, they've shed their pretty brown and are now a natty lookin' gray. Wassup with that? Thanks in advance.

LOL ahahahhaha , could not resist!

I do not see why they would just stop eating.

The only time I see lizards slow down with eating is if they are going to shed,
females when gravid, right before they lay, or parasites can zap their appetites also.

Of course bruamtion, but its not that time yet.

Were they ever checked for worms?

OK, smart aleck !! No, they have never been to a vet for any reason. Guess it couldn't hurt to have them checked out though. Not sure of the sexes, but one actually seems to have gained weight. Hmmmm. And I've never really weighed them so can't really know for sure. Not sure of the sex of either, by the way. I've been gone to camp fer two days with a couple of my boys. I'll see if they're hungry today, then if not I'll take em to see the doc. Thanks Eve.
