using a hovabator

I was planning on using a hovabator to incubate ny corn eggs. It has a wire screen to put the eggs on. Does one just put the eggs on the wire screen or should I use vermiculite to sit the eggs in? If vermiculite, how does one set it on the wire screen? Any advice would be appreciated.
