Another question regarding shrunken egg >>>

Cleopatra Jul 11, 2003 06:14 PM

I checked on the eggs again and this time touched the normal egg (nice and firm) and then touched the shrunken one: it is no longer firm, but not terribly squishy either..."soft and leathery" would be good words. It is still retaining its white coloration. Does it sound okay???

have you candled it? How shrunken is it like alot I have seen them dent pretty good before hatching as the baby absorbs it's fluids and yolk sac.

It's almost back to the same size it was when it was originally laid. Over the incubation period, it slowly expanded, and now has gone back to its original size.

If it turns out the egg is hatching, how long does it normally take for a baby to hatch out after the egg shrinks (collapses, dents, whatever)??? Will it be out by tomorrow morning? Thanks again! sorry for all the questions!

more than likely within 8 to 12 hours. Sometimes they just stick their head out and lay around for a while though after that. Don't worry about all the questions it must be exciting for you. I have hatched them for 4 years and still get all excited Wish we could see the look on you face when you open the incubator and see it for the first time. lol

I really think tonight she will hatch, the shell is soft and leathery, just perfect for a hatching baby!!!
