What could cause stunted groth?

Nomadofthehills May 09, 2005 02:59 PM

Hi, i got 2 2 month old cresteds in october, and since then, they have only grown like an inch at most. They have CGD (mixed with H20), baby food, and dusted crickets all the time... no apparent MBD... They are good eaters, active, but no growth. The only thing I cant hink of is that I kept them in my room, which has no windows, so no sunlight... tehy have everything else...

what could it be, and will they always be small?

no... i was under the impression they were nocturnal, so they didnt need it...

they had a photocycle though, from other herps heat lamps brighting my room, but no direct uv exposure, as glass blocks it right?

oh, ten g tank

I am having a similar problem. I have had on juvi for 4 months. It is growing but much slower then my adult did. I don't know why it is growing slower. Maybe just different for the individual gecko?

you never know, sometimes you just get those that grow slower. just because food is available all the time doesnt necessarily mean they're chowing down.

im pretty sure randy posted a month or two back about a runt he had that grew extremely slow for a while, then all the sudden it took off. cant expect everyone to be the same.

they don't need lights unless your room is colder than 70 degrees...

they grow at different rates at different times...they grow slowly until they're 5-6 month...then have a bit of a growth spurt...then have another spurt at 10-13 months

don't worry, sounds just fine
