Considering a blood/moving question

sprastr May 09, 2005 03:26 PM

are bloods good with traveling? i heard that balls did alright with it. im moving from florida in about 6 months and was wondering how a blood would take it. this has the potential to be a 3 day car ride/hotel trip. anyone ever done this?

Yes, they can do fine if packaged and handled appropriately. I have moved mine home with me when I was home for christmas because I couldn't find anyone to care for her, and I wasn't willing to trust the heating in my trailer (college living) for almost a month without someone to check on her.

Out of fairness for the animal, if you're moving in only 6 months, I would consider getting one when you get moved in. If you find a baby you can't live without, especially with hatching season upon us, maybe the breeder will hold it for you until you get settled.

If you do get a blood, pack them like you'll be shipping them, and make the trip as short as possible. They're tough critters, and as long as you have a well adjusted Captive bred baby (I would not EVER try moving an import so soon) then you should be fine either way.
