Two -- as long as only one of them is a male.

Hi,
I disagree with two in a 20 long. My standards are one anole per twenty considering how much space is there for them in the wild. Also be careful in the twenty long concerning the humidity. ? I have never tryed a twenty long but with all of the open top some of the humidity will escape. Did you try researching? The Anole Forest and Under the Leaves are very good sites. Sorry for explaining everything just not sure if you are new or not.

They do quite well by allotting 10 gallons per Anole. If you choose to allot more space that is up to you but you could put 2 in a 20 gallon long without overcrowding as long as only one is a male. Keeping the humidity up shouldn't be a problem as long as you mist the enclosure a couple of times a day. You can also use real plants which will tend to increse humidity.

If someone who ownes anoles feels bad that they aren't living in the wild they should give them as much space as possible rather than just 5, 10, or 20 gallons per anole. I find it highly impratical to set aside a whole room or a 200 gallon tank for just a few anoles. I try to at least abide by the 10 gallon rule because I've had problems trying to use the 5 gallon rule.
