This was a first for me..

Also, on april 21st,I was walking pretty far,and came across this gopher snake. The first one I've ever seen in Twin peaks-(I've found them all over the backside of Lake Arrowhead and even in Rim Forest and towards crestline) but I've herped all over twin peaks for the last 15 years or so,and never saw one. This guy was so cool, this is excatly how it was when I came across it.At first it started to strike then settled down a bit,I never even grabbed him, just took his pic and let him get back to sunning himself. He looked liked like a big old adult male,so he could be a drifter you know. But he made for soem good pics, had a bit of a messed up mouth.

He had beautiful colors. In the sun,he really showed light pinks and deep rust color.

One more closer shot of him.I was walking along the stream looking for rock outcroppings along the banks, and saw some nice looking ones.So i go there thinking I'll find some mtn.kings but instead this guy was waiting for me,so nice.
