You may want to try putting the defrosted rat in the microwave for about 8 seconds. I have a few ball pythons that won't take defrosted but instantly respond to a rat that is microwaved for about 8-10 seconds after being thawed out. If you try this, be careful not to overcook because the rat will spit open.

Godd luck

Never, EVER put a rat in the microwave EVEN for 8 seconds. In that little amount of time, it is possible to cook or even par-cook a piece of small flesh from the inside.

Sorry, I told you what not to do, but not what to do. Firstly, stick with it. The snake will eat it when their really hungry. Don't give up. What you should do is run the rat, in a ziploc, or other bag, under hot water for a few minutes, and feel the temp. of the rat (should be same temp. as a live one. When you try to feed it, don't just throw it in the cage, wiggle it around with a pair of hempstats to make it look alive. Good luck.
