Well I bought my gator a year ago and he was already about a foot long. Now he is a foot and half and is alot fatter. I guess my question is what is the average like growth rate of an alligator
well this is really hard to say. Typically, under the ideal environmental conditions and proper food intake, they will average out at about a foot a year up until they reach around 5-6 feet and then their growth will slow down. However, it's just that problem. Not everyone provides the proper environmental conditions for these animals and not everyone provides the correct diet. Therefore your animal could technically be 4 years old, but just improperly maintained. I have seen it done before and yes it is very possible. Some people in here may have ways of judging age regardless, however, by size alone to me it would seem impossible for reptiles.
He lives in a Pond and eats fuzzy mice and raw meat and crickets and night crawlers and the occasional fish.
