That is a nice cage, but I don't think it would be good for a burm.
It is way too tall, Burms don't climb much and trying to keep the heat & humidity up will be a hard leason in "aint gonna happen".
And for the money you could build a few good cages for an adult burm.
Hope this helps
Have a good day!
im getting second hand same cage all excessories and stuff includded for 1500$.
the guy used it for several iguanas and asaid it held heat and humidity without a proplem.
for $1500, you can buy 3 cages, more suited for burms.
or two fully equipped cages...and still have pocket money left over.
i havent decided yet but i might get me a lav phase albino retic to put in there
My retics, pritty much stay on the ground too, just like my burms. So I would still say it would be a waste.
If you have that much to spend on a used cage just get two Vision 632's. They are 72"wx36"dx18"h, you could stack them on top of each other to save space and to buy two new ones it would only be $834.00 +shipping. Thats just what I would do.
Don't get me wrong that is a nice cage, I just think it would better for a snake that would use all the height.
Have a good day!
i know it would be wasted hieht but i want it for a nice display cage for my living room.
and i would add extra locks for added security.
i will test it for heat and humidity befotre i buy it though if its to hard i wont purchase it.
i hadnt thought about till a few moments ago but i have a baby scrub, once it gets bigger do you think it would do all right in there?
Your biggest challenge will be heat and humidity management in this type of cage. I personally haven't used their cages and when I inquired to the company about trying out one of their smaller models, they declined (and blew a chance for an $80,000 contract!). Several other companies jumped at the chance to show off the quality of their products and either sent me free models, or, greatly reduced prices....most of them got some level of business from me. I have heard that the cages you are considering don't stand the test of time but that is just coming from a couple of people who didn't like them. Instead, I would recommend the following companies:
- Habitat Systems: if you truly want a nice display/exhibit cage, they can make your dream cage complete with REAL nice looking "faux" rockwork
- Vision: They now have a nice exhibit model that is around 7' wide x 3' deep x 4' high; plenty big for a scrub or average sized burm/retic. You can really deck this cage out and it is much less than the 1500 you were going to spend
- Crescent Moon Creations: Rick Senior is a master carpenter who builds amazing looking furniture. He built some of the nicest cages I have ever seen for our wildlife center's reptile exhibits. He uses many types of wood (we settled on Cherry) and the cage will be custom built to the exact requirements of the animal you are keeping. If you want info on him, email me and I will give you his info.
