Probing

TRIPLEHET May 10, 2005 01:28 PM

A friend of mine has a 3 year old Ball and she wants to find out what sex it is. She said that it is very expensive to have the snake probed and she doesn't feel comfortable probing it herself. She asked me if there was any other way to determine the sex of her snake. I told her that I didn't think so. So, I'm asking you all if there are any other alternative and reliable ways for her to find out the sex of her snake or does she need to save up some money if she doesn't want to probe the snake herself? I'm not probing it for her!!!

See if you have a local herp society and take it there. Someone will usually be willing to sex a snake for you.

I recently got sent a bunch of males that were supposed to be females, in order to get my money back I had to have a vet probe them to provide documentation.

Long Story Short - He charged $15 to do 5 of them paperwork included. If you happen to get one of those vets that like to over charge, see if your friend has a reptile specialty store, herp society or fellow herper in her area, they will usually do it for free.

Maybe check for spermplugs yourself before taking it to have it probed. No need to probe if there are spermplugs.
