Out of curiosity I responded to an ad in our local newspaper.
It read Tortoise Turtle $60. 8 months old.

I asked what type of tortoise it was and she responded "its
a tortoise turtle" Well, I guess you can imagine my confusion!
So I asked her again what TYPE of tortoise it was. She sounded
frustrated and said she did not understand my question.
Of course I explained that there were many different kinds
and that you need to know so you know how to take care of them

She did say it was a land turtle not a water turtle and she
knew it liked heat.

I feel so sorry for the turtle. Just wanted to share
Linda

that's too bad. i wonder, is she a pet dealer, or did she find it, or what? at least she knows to keep it warm...

I work in a pet store I get people like that all the time. It still amazes me that people get animals and don't know anything about them. My favorite still is when a person calls with a reptile problem and you ask the person what the temp is the animal's cage and they respond its hot but they have no idea what the actually temp is just that it feels hot to them.
