hatching question???

ginger7456 May 10, 2005 05:07 PM

I have a set of eggs that has been in the incubator for about 72 days. I noticed on Sunday that one of the eggs had a clear fluid coming out of one side. It was just a small amount-like someone poked little pin holes in it. From two different people in my area I heard two completely different answers-one good, one bad? Which is it? If it is good (which I hope it is) how much longer should it be before they hatch? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Annette

Sometimes eggs leak slightly, and then stop (but maintain their firmness). But at 72 days, it could easily be an attempt at hatching. The best thing to do is wait it out and more than likely, the baby will hatch very soon. But of course there’s a risk of it dying in the egg...but that generally happens to “weak” geckos and for a reason.

The other option is to" facilitate" hatching by piping the egg - not recommended and often leads to a poor outcome.

You mite have the soil to damp an the baby drowned in the egg this happened to my first egg and things turned for the worst but I would just leave the egg until like day 90 and if it hasn't hatched by then its probably no good
