Colombian tegus are always a bit more jumpy/flighty. This is their nature. They require a lot of work to keep mellow, but they can make great pets if you have the time.

I have a rescued tegu here who I hold, but he always flinches away and huffs a bit when I first reach into his enclosure but calms down within 30 seconds or so once he realizes it's me.

Good luck with your new tegu and feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions I can help you with.

Rick
