Hi Guys;

I just noticed that my male LTR is in his 1st shed after taking him out of hibernation, his blue eyes are a little cloudy as can be expected, but for some strange reason he appears to be pink in color, is this normal for LTR's??? 1st time I've noticed it, mind you I've only had this male for about 6 months & it's possible I just noticed it now.

Be interesting to see if he goes back to his porcelain white self after shedding...... anyone else experience this with your LTR's???

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Dean

How old is he? Of course they are a little pink for the first six months of their life or so, but have never seen one revert back

A mild pink flushing can indicate septicemia. I've never had it in my snakes, but a lot of my rescued turtles had pink flushing over pale areas of skin and shell, as they generally have shell rot that went systemic.
Could be normal, but just something to think about and keep an eye on.

Gonna isolate him juuuust in case, he's about 8 years old. Real nice boy too, easy as kitten to handle, was bred by Kathy Love & has nice normal eyes which he throws in his babies.

Hey where's Dwight Good these days haven't heard from him in a Coon's age, I lost his phone #, tell him his buddy Dean from Canada's been lookin for him

Thanx for your help guys will keep ya posted.

Hey Dean, Dwight chimes in from time to time on this forum. I believe his website is no longer up, so I'm not sure how much or how little Dwight has cut back on his projects. I hope at the very least he stays with some of his outstanding ratsnakes. He has too many good looking animals that I want to add to my collection. White Oak Grey Rats, yellow rats, Black Rats, etc.

& he's back to his normal porcelain white self. Next time he goes into a shed I'll take some pics of him he really had a pink hue all over him. Thanks again for all your help & suggestions.

My LTR is about 8-9 months old and still quite pink. I believe she is about to go into shed. I think they're pink when thier young because the light shines through their thin skin and internals make them look pink. I can see her heart if you hold her up to the ight but if you take a picture with a flash she is pure white in color. Weird.
