Out of curiosity...

My BRB is in a tank that has a mix of some dirts (my b/f is the gardener, I don't know what they are... no chems though!) What she does is burrow into the dirt. When I first got her I came home from work & went to check on her & couldn't find her, then I noticed a little hole on the cool end of her tank that her nose was peeking out of, the rest of her was completely burried. She does this now & then (not all the time), and she also seems very fond of tunneling through the dirt. She'll go all around the cage burrowing like that. Just wondering if anyone else has ever had a BRB do this???

my brb use to do that too, what i did was make sure had had a nice hide box and that kinda killed that every now and then he did still did itbut not anymore now if he wants the hotter side he'll just stay on the surface, i guess because hes much more secure that hes safe and addapted well but just keep up the humidity n keep the right temps
i'm no expert i just know from my personal experience

Yeah... she has a good hide (big & private), some moss to hide in too. Not sure why she does it... it's kinda funny to see!

Greetings

I think the reason for this kind of behaviour is: The lighting in your cage is to intense and/or the humidity in your cage is insufficient and the snake therefor seek out the moist in your substrate (if there are any... moist that is.) and/or you got undesirably hides meaning the snake feel more secure burrowed down in the dirt.

About the hides, in my experience RB's prefer hides where they can feel the walls/roof against their body, they don't like it big. If they can JUST squeeze themselves in they are happy.

Pardon my spelling...

They do like to burrow in, I use 15 qt sterilite tubs for hides. I cut a couple of large holes on one side. bottom layer is 1" or peat moss and another 1" layer of green moss. All moistened quite well. They love to go in there and burrow around in the moist dirt.
