Ok. . . now I'm writeing this before I buy one because I have had one before. I got it from the Indy reptile show. It was the 1st I ever had, bought from a crappy guy who swore it was CB, I beleaved him like a dumbass. It never eight, it was a Biak I was told, had a big swore on its side, mouth rott and all that FUN stuff. It ended up dieing, a little of me died that day from seeing such a beautiful animal die because I couldnt help it. So from that I'm VERY hesitant on geting another. But maybe if you guys can help me I might get another. Heres what I'm thinking: I have a 55gal fish tanks I'm about to take down, I was going to totaly disinfect it, clean it the best possible with some reptile cage cleaners. I'm going to get a screen lid for it and get some plexiglass to cover the screen, cut holes for the floresent lights, and ceramic heat emiters, and also puting ventholes that can be covered up as needed for humidity and heat. I have a habbitat mister(I think thats it) its small but I'm going to get one of them 2 to 5 gal bucket misters with a timer on it. I was thinking about going out and cuting limbs out of a couple trees and somehow suspending them in there so they are still removeable. Cypress mulch as substrate, and maybe a suspended bowl and one of the ground. I have Ball Pythons so I'm not new at snakes but I really dont want to end up haveing another that will die on me ya know. Please let me know what you all thing of the cage I'm thinking about doing. If you think its good, if you see room for improvement, anything I just cant let another die.

Thank you very much for your help,
Blake

Put some nice fish in the fish tank. I would use a tub for a baby chondro or even an adult. There are alot of cage makers out there who make quality enclosures for arboreals. There are even chondro keepers who make cages specificly for chondros.

Trust me, that fish tank is going to give you more problems then you need. No need for a automatic mister. You'll run in too a gauntlet of problems there as well (some people swear by them) but as long as you have 10 seconds a day and a quality enclosure (or tub) a 50cent spray bottle will do the trick!

Here are some links to captive husbandry.

Listen to these guys, they know what they are talking about.

If you're looking for a nice healthy animal I would advise you too stay away from reptile shows and kingsnake classifieds until you know what you're doing. Alot of garbage comes in and out of these places, as as you mentioned broakers will tell you anything and everything to get you to buy their animals.

I can whole heartly say, anything from these two places you'll be happy with who you deal with

Make a few post, introduce your self, talk too some people, call some people, find out if theres a breeder or keeper you can visit in your area.

This forum is nice, but not the best place for chondro information.

I agree, I'll add that you might be better off getting a young adult or a Juvenal, lot fewer headaches and it's easier to learn when your not worried 24/7 about it eating ,dumping or shedding.
Getting an older animal doesn't cost much more and you'll both be happier in the long run. Save getting a baby till the Chondro bug sets in real good then you can get a little one and then another one ETC ETC Soon you'll wonder how you ever lived without cages along every wall.
