Snake Loss!

piedman May 10, 2005 11:30 PM

This morning I fed my orange ghost a live rat and he took it right away. I checked on him later and he seemed fine. Later this evening I checked on him again and found that he regurgatated the rat and unfortunately, he died, possibly in the process or as a result of. Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone have any ideas as to what may have happened? I would really appreciate any insight from anyone. Thanks!

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I've seen a photo of that same Orange Ghost. He was one of the nicest specimens I've ever seen.

Maybe the rat was not completely unconcious when your Orange Ghost began ingestion. The rat could have done internal damage while thrashing about inside. This internal damage might cause a regurgitation. I really don't know. Is this possible?

Or perhaps the regurgitation is the symptom.

(We could use an experienced voice here.)

Again...I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Chris

Chris thanks for the kind words. I feel more upset that the snake had to die. Scott from cv exoctics really got me a awesome ghost male and now of course what i get now i will always be comparing to him. Well i guess it happens. But it sure does suck. Mike.

Sorry to hear about your loss. So there were no signs of illness just sudden death. Are you planning to take it to the vet to have it examined.Keep us updated if you find out the cause of death.

My deepest sympathy on your loss.
I would take it to a vet and have an autopsy done.
Always good to be safe and make sure there's nothing nasty floating around your collection.

Plus, the curiousity of why it died would also be enough for me.
