Question for Kelly Haller?

Twntyshooter May 11, 2005 12:26 AM

I would like to see if Kelly Haller could answer this question because I have heard good things. But anyone who may have some good thaughts and prior experience I definately encourage to reply as well. Anyway my baby Green Anaconda doesnt want to eat yet. She is approximately 2 months old and captive bread according to Glades Herp. I have had her for 3 weeks or so now and still no repsonse eating. I have tried mice both alive and dead. In and out of the water. My temp and humidity levels are good. I have also tried a live fish in the water and she seamed somewhat interested at first but then left it alone. I was wondering what else there is to try. I have yet to try dipping rodents into chicken broth. I also got a suggestion to brain fish and try them in there. Have you heard of this? Do you have any other suggestions or helpful hints?

Thanks a lot (anyone!)

Try day old chicks first. If your anaconda wont take them ft try live. This really seems to be what they want.

You could try raw grocery chicken parts if this does not work (mine wanted them) but you need to make an effort to switch food in good time.

Iguanas and snakes are another option if choices A and B I offered do not work for some reason. My green anaconda would not refuse a garter snake. This is another thing you need to try and move them from in good time. It can have health effects and financial effects on you.

Low lighting or complete dark are a must and you should leave the snake alone for a long time (obviously only if FT food...dont leave alone with live).

Once you get the snake eating you can tie them to a rodent or rub a chicken on the rodent to try and switch them over.

Good Luck!
