It is truly a shame to lose someone like you, even if it is only for a few months! Unfortunately, many of the other exceptionally knowledgeable people stopped posting about the time you showed up. It is hard to imagine who is going to fill in your shoes now, especially since you seem to be the only regularly posting person on the health forum.
I am glad that this forum has indeed served a purpose for you, showing you that there truly is a tremendous need for herp educated veterinarians, and showing you that there probably is some good money in it as well! I think it is funny that you consider getting a DVM just a matter of "upgrading"!
Ian's post a should show everyone on this forum that there is also a need for people to do rescues on all types of animals, but especially herps. Call up any local zoo, aquarium, nature center, park or university and commit yourself to volunteering a few hours a week. In my area of southeastern Virginia, we have a great network of people who can do rehab, but it still isn't enough to take care of all of the box turtles and snapping turtles that try to cross the road.
