Did you ever notice?

Jeff Clark May 11, 2005 07:20 AM

...Have you ever noticed that people who keep Rainbow Boas are really nice people? On this forum we never have any of the ugly disagreements and name calling like they have so often on some of the other forums. It really is disappointing sometimes to see how excited people on the other forums get with each other over "stuff" that just seems silly. Thanks to all of you for being so nice to each other.
Jeff

That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard, drop this thread because it is full of stupidity and ignorance...

LOL..Just kidding, the people on this forum are great and good job on pointing that out...You are so right about the other forums, especially in the ball python room. Those people have already driven themselves insane arguing over morphs and how much they're worth.

Jeff Clark May 11, 2005 12:21 PM

Jon,
...Perfect Picture. I had a rough night at work last night and was thinking how much I wanted for the month to get over so we could get up to the Smokey Mountains.
THANKS!!!!!!!
Jeff

I'm going June 12-18. Maybe I'll see you around.

Jeff Clark May 11, 2005 10:33 PM

Jon,
...We will be there the week before that. Linda mentioned Elk out in the west. Have you seen the Elk in Cataloochie (sp?) Cove at the east end of the park? We have seen them up close each time we were there the last two summers.

I've been known to get tangled up in them now and then. Usually because someone is trying force their view point or beliefs down everyone else's throats ETC ETC I'm the kind of person who will reply to others in the same manner they speak to me. Must be all the great people here that keep me in Check

I do really enjoy how thoughtful people on this forum are. It can get slow around here at times but people tend to treat each other with respect and to discuss their differences when they arise instead of flaming away. Good job folks proud to know ya.
Now Jeff about that hat! looks like one of my old ones.

You are so right. I have been a lurker on the Ball Python forum for about a year, and rarely ever post because they are so hostile.

Jeff, great point. The people here are very kind and helpful. I haven't seen one ugly comment in the time I have been visiting here. I appreciate all of the help I get from everyone! Thanks

Thanks to you too, Jeff! Thanks for answering the same questions time and time again with consistant answers, and for always being reliable to answer with accuracy those questions that aren't as common.

This is a wonderful forum. I really like the people who frequent it.....at least those who let themselves be known. There have been several times I wanted to post a question or situation that I needed some feedback that was completely off topic just because I wanted to know how you all felt about it or because I needed some input and value the opinions I receive from this forum.

Sometimes I would like to be a bit more personal...like knowing about you all and what you do etc., etc. And occasionally I'd like to unload my mind on you all...not for feedback, but just so it gets out of my mind.

I too, have been dreaming of mountains....Colorado's Rockies. I can smell their earth and air and hear the elk at night. The wind blowing through the valley.....the occassional crackling of the log I hand cut earlier that afternoon. The clouds bringing the 2 hour rain, rib-eye on the fire, book I can't pull away from. Yikes! I gotta get outta Lubbock! Life is so tough, work sometimes sucks, why can't I just find a man who is never home, sends me money weekly, likes all my creatures, puts up with all my fancies, adores me for my independence, and encourages my curiosity? I suppose I frequent the wrong forum!

Oh well, at least you folks are dependable.

Linda

Linda I don't think people would mind if you went off topic every now and then. Though I don't know if you should ask snake people for advice on your love life LOL seems we get a kick out of snakes snuggling up and most idea of porn is watching to snakes get it on some advice lol, you don't want a guy who is into snakes you can only keep so many and he'll get to chose half. Never realized though I'm sure you mentioned it before that you live in Texas, I'm way over here near Houston and can't wait to get out lol Montana boy is melting in the heat and humidity. This one year stay is heading into its third year !!!!! can't these people count .

lol - Linda you crack me up.

I feel the same way. The people here are great. I have wanted to come on and post off-topic stuff, but didn't cause no one else does. BUT since you brought it up ... Why don't you tell us a little about you? And I welcome others to do the same. I will start ...

My name is Noël, I am 28 and really enjoying life right now. On-line most people know me as the snake weilding belly dancer, but off-line, I am pretty much a big nerd. I work for an environmental protection department that I make maps for. And I am a total map freak. LOVE maps almost as much as I love snakes and dancing.

I have 5 males in my house, and the only other female is Eve, my BRB. Two kids, a husband, a Dobermann, and a Ball Python. I really love animals. I would have a virtual zoo if time alotted and hubby was ok with it. As it is, he only tolerates the animals we do have.

Oh, I have 2 tattoos, 11 piercings, and I fire dance as well. People think I am a bit strange, but my kids adore me! I also am a hyge sucker for books and have to literally restrain myself from going to Amazon.com daily.

Wow... that was a lot of info... probably too much!

P.S. ~ That man you described, does not exist!!! *sigh*

I'm a 35 year old single female Veterinary Technician whose pets include dogs, cats, and BRB's. My interests include reading, gardening, and eating. I would say I have no special talents.....but I'm good at my job, in fact, I have quit 3 times and have been re-hired 4 times....so I guess I'm a bit crazy too. I keep 3 jobs and all have to do with animal care-taking. My favorite chore is watering the flowers and my least favorite is laundry. Camping in a tent with a sleeping bag is my favorit "sport". I have a tattoo of a Japanese Crane on my ankle that I wanted for 15 years before actually getting.

How's that?

Linda

I agree that there's a lot less "drama" on the Rainbow Boa forum and it makes it much easier for me to post here. There are some other polite forums as well (ehem... the rat snake forum) where I spend most of my time. I do occasionally read a few of the "what's my morph" forums, mainly for entertainment. It is silly, these are snakes people, not a winning lottery ticket Now watch me get banned for saying that...

Jeff, you have shared some great information in your posts and I really enjoy learning more about these beautiful animals that we keep. I appreciate your patience with the repeated questions and as Sunshine said, your consistant answers.

Thanks everyone for keeping it civil, about the snakes and how best to care for them. Rainbows are great snakes, not the easiest to care for or most expensive to buy, but when they come out of hiding- they are well worth it (probably like most of the people on the forum).

When I visit these forums this is the one I always go to first. I think of it as my 'home' forum and really enjoy the posts and the people who author them. However, I do get great entertainment from some of the other more 'animated' forums; never ceases to amaze me how some people behave behind the cloak of cyberspace.
It is nice to see this forum get more usage (and more pics!)
Take care,
Paul

I have to agree with all of you. I am a Geezer .
A bit of a newbie to BRB's, but owning 3 BRB's was a dream from when I was 10 years old.
This forum has been a great help, and Jeff and others have really helped with the keeping of such a great species.
I have had the great fortune to have kept many different herps, but I must admit that Rainbows are truly unique snakes, and this forum has helped me make life for my captives, hopefully, happy.
