Moving!

Karu Jul 11, 2003 08:26 PM

I'm moving in about 6 days from nice warm sunny perfect Florida to Colorado. What's my chances of keeping my uro alive in a box for the 2 day trip? I will have something soft as the substrate and maybe a couple of them hand warmers in there. I will open the box enough for him to get air and maybe take him out a couple of times. I also have to take 3 leos this way.

also you might want to soak your uro to make sure he has enough water to hold him over...as for the eos id make sure they have had alot to drink..

when i got rico from doug dix, he shipped him in an insulated box with a pillow cover filled with newspaper. it seemed pretty comforatable. He also had a 48 hous heat pack in there. As long as your uro is at room temp he sould be alright.
GOOD LUCK!

I would also suggest buying a couple of heat packs from a camping store or sporting goods store. That's what I have done for my uros on longer trips. A two-pack of 8 hour heat packs was only $1 at a place called Gander Mountain in Peoria, Illinois where I am from. Good luck!

He'll do fine for a couple of days. I'd be real careful about using heat packs in a small enclosure that you don't overheat him, especially in a car in the summer.

what about keeping the temp down in the box (room temp)? it would keep your uro inactive for the trip. I have done this a few time and it seems to work fine. Also for inside the box i use and old t-shirt for substrate for the softness, so the uro doesn't bounce around on hard sand or something.
