Patternless morph potential?

AbsoluteApril May 11, 2005 10:44 AM

Hey Forum,

I am curious, with the recent postings of 'patternless' type boas lots of people keep saying there is so much potential... I guess I am curious because I like pattern and that is one of the things that attracted me to boa constrcitors. Wouldn't an albino patternless look similar to a badly colored normal albino? A big yellow snake? A hypo patternless for a solid pink or red snake? Is this a goal? Or is it something completely different?
I *must* be missing something here! Either that or my tastes just run different...
(please note, I am not trying to say anything negative about these new morphs, it is amazing to see all the differences that pop up in these boas!)

thanks..
-April

Well if you had a all red patternless, I think it would be pretty cool. Some have the tail pattern still. I think they are very cool...I know I want one. Andy

Well, I personally think that a patternless boa in different colors would be a really neat thing to see. A big paternless albino would be the simplest of the lot, A big White (snow/Blizzard) or a big Silver (ghost) paternless Boa, you could have them in all different colors.
I also work with corn snakes, and although the market for them is very weak, I still produced a couple of hundred of them per year just because I like working with them and playing with the genetics. Each year I wait for the eggs to pipped just to see what might come out.
Boas are still very early in the genetics game, compared to Corns. It is still very easy to know what you should be getting out of which litter. We are just no seeing the potential to triple hets and soon we will have quad hets or more to where you may get 5-8 morphs out of each litter! Now thats fun!
Thanks
Hoppy

April,

I completely see your point April. You would think BLAND ALBINO. NO BIGGY RIGHT?? Well, I see it a little different. It is still not here, so it is tough to comment untill we see it and it is about 1 year of age. HOwever, I know the Super Motleys have some underlying color that I think is going to make a Patternless Albino look INCREDIBLE.

HERE IS WHERE I THINK you are MISSING THE BOAT. No offense, (just like you were saying no offense on your post). Think of This.

HYPO PATTERNLESS, ALBINO, BLOOD. BASICALLY My Point, is to look further down the road at what can be done. Putting all the colors and patterns together. Sure, maybe a Patternless Albino may be bland, and there may be some that are cool. It is further down the road that ads excitement to the picture. Yes, a BLOODY SUNGLOW would be Killer On its OWN. But could you imagine a PATTERNLESS BLOODY SUNGLOW????? Just some points to ponder. HOpe you are doing well with your snakes April, and good to see you still posting. ( You probably post more then I see). Take Care, Jeremy Stone

No one knows what colors are hiding in the patternless boas especially after they are crossed with other morphs. I can't wait to see what the future holds for these boas and I think they will have long term potential because all of the crosses that can be done. IMO, this intertwining of morphs will help stabilize the price of all morphs for years to come.

I can't wait to see a bloody salmon patternless and all the other crazy crosses that can be made!
