I gain two, lose one, and get more eggs... what gives?

boy May 11, 2005 04:52 PM

My first two satanic eggs, the giants, hatched monday and tuesday night. Both at super cute!!! They are over an inch in length and have great color. They both shed within an hour of hatching and were roaming like crazy.

Then I lost one male from my Ly5.1 group. That gives me 1.2 in there now. I call them that just because I wanted use this strain name from my lab. Totally fits too.

Well, as I'm pulling his corpse out of the cage I spot two eggs about 5 inches away from him. Put me in a great mood to see those. Atleast he was breeding right.

On another topic, I cracked open an ebanaui egg that should've hatched a few weeks ago. Sadly, I discovered a fully developed embryo inside. Totally bummed me out because it actually was viable and had moved. Learned that temperature fluctuation makes a difference in development. I still have one egg left from them.

I incubated all my ebanaui complex eggs in between 68-75. That took about 4 months overall.

We'll see what hatches next.

Jason

man, that really sucks you lost the one, but its so nice that both satanic eggs ended up hatching out. is there a clutchmate to go along with the ebenaui that you poked thru? hopefully it will still make it. sucks that you gotta wait a month or two longer for yours than i have had to, but better late than never, right?

and with the male you lost....was it the one that crashed that you told me about? hopefully the extra time youll have on your hands will help things stay better. kinda weird how everyone around here runs into troubles around the same time. but what can you do, really? nothing lasts forever.

wish you the best of luck, as always.

there is a clutch mate. and it looks like it will hatch. The satanics actually ate on their second day. They took down some pretty good sized crix at that, 1 week old crix. that put me in a good mood.

The female ebanaui is gravid again too.

We'll see where it all goes. this weekend is going to be cage cleaning and apartment cleaning. hopefully it will all work out right. i need to start setting up cages for all the ebanaui. I've had them in community houses for the last two weeks to get them up to speed and to see who is the weakest. only lost one though. Should be a good group.

cheers
