Update on regurgitation problem with baby Balls (and THANKS to all who replied)

tomsey May 11, 2005 09:19 PM

Thank you to everyone who has helped me with this problem.

What I plan to do is add some heat tape to the rack and soak them to help rehydrate. Also, now with 7 regurges out of 15 that ate, I think some Flagyl is most likely needed. (The regurges were on fuzzy mice about 2 or 3 days after eating. They did appear to be partly digested. The room temps are about 83 degrees 24/7 with no heat tape at the time)

For the Flagyl, what dosage and number of times given do you all do for baby balls in the 45-70 gram range? I ask this because I've been told two different things.

Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No idea on the dosage amounts, but if you run your room temps at about 86-91 then there will probably be no regurges. I do not heat my rack either, and run the room temps between the 86-91 mark, and have never had a regurge, and actually got 2 clutches of eggs, 13 total eggs, from 2 females bred by keeping the same temps. It might be just a fluke, but I am keeping it that way, and we will see what next year brings. Just jack up the temps after the Flagyl, and I maybe the regurges will go away.

Good luck to ya,
Jason
