on average, how big are baby red tails when born? a friend of mine has had litters from a peruvian x amazonian (6ft) breed to a golden pastel peruvian (7 1/2ft), with the offspring at rather good sizes. the smallest at 20 inches and the largest at 34 inches. most of which were around 26-30 inches. but then i've seen baby red tails born at around 12-20 inches. so i am here wondering how many more of you have had litters with rather large and healthy babies?

30-50 grams in size and about 13-20 inches in length, Steve and I are statistics people so we love to see the weights and averages and such, this year we have our "fattest" litter with the average (mean) of the animals weight bing about 83 grams... which is... HUGE, but they were from a huge mom and carried to full term... beautiful babies though...!

Sincerely,
Rose Hipskind
