My Boa Occasionally Whistles

merlot76 May 11, 2005 10:49 PM

My Boa whistles occasionally, no mouth opening or anything. Mouth seems clean no bubbles or mucus. Its just that sometimes when I handle him for more than 5 min or I am trying to clean poop of him and have to hold him steady he gives out a single note whistle now and then. Should I worry that it is a RI? There are times when I handle him and there are no whistles at all. Any ideas?

I have had my larger boas whistle around me. I had a large tame surinam that whistled so loud that i thought it was a hiss. Scared me to death. (her head was next to my ear) Anyway, in my experience, it is just a whistle out their nostral when there is no symptoms of upper RI.

Thx for the reply,

ya I was worried, will continue to monitor. I have discovered that she only whistles when stressed or agitated, like last nite when I put her around my neck she was whistling often! Other that than that, no sounds, eating well, so I hope it will be OK
