.......what we seem to have is a Texas Long Nose, but with a larger amount of white than all the pics the books have, but those are definatly the markings(w/ more white between the colors) and the head., ( kind of like the white on the the Miami verson of Corns)We are Hi Desert, So Cal. Would that breed of snake be possible here?? It didn't appear to be faring too well in the wild, with scars, and a couple of missing scales. I also noticed that it had a couple of areas on its white belly that seemed to be like thin,PULLED scales, still strongly attatched to the snake by one of the (4?) sides, and not like a dry, ready to shed scale. I lightly brushed the area, and the poor little guy flinched, so I quit, but we put a bowl of water in, set him by it and he stayed in it for about 20-30 minuets.( Maybe it was soothing to him???)( Maybe he was run over or scraped on the Highway???))).....so am I still at the right forum?? or is there one specifically for longnoses??? ( By the way, the nose is NOT long, but head shape is just like a Corn)THANKS, you guys are VERY nice!!! ....

Does occur in California.

They can be black & white and also with red mixed in. I have a pic of a black & white one found by Bagdad, AZ on this link.
