Is there an obvious way to tell if the tail was dropped in the past? It has a crease at the base of the tail but the width if consistent throughout and doesn't look like it was ever dropped. Thank you!

Portions of the tail that grow after a tail has been dropped are usually not as colorful as the original tail. If all you see is a crease then more than likely the crease is natural or was caused by something else.
