Black milks ready to breed?

nategodin May 12, 2005 09:27 AM

Hello,
I was going to put it off until next year, but it appears that my '02 black milks are ready to breed. For the past month or two, my male (60" has been off feed, acting very restless and twitchy, trying to get to the female in the next cage over. In the same period of time, the female has stopped growing lengthwise, and is holding steady at 55". Up until now, she would grow at least an inch in length between sheds. She's also looking quite girthy. I suspect that the energy that would have gone to lengthwise growth has instead gone to the production of follicles. I put them together briefly, just to gauge their reactions, and they seem eager to breed. The male quickly moved into position, and the female appeared to be very receptive. I separated them before they got too far, though. (kinda reminds me of the way my girlfriend's parents treated me in high school!) Should I let them have at it?

Thanks,
Nate

55" sounds big enough. I was say let them have at it! JMO
