Insurance Limitations via Delta Dash

I was browsing the Delta Dash website, and I noticed this statement:

"DASH shipments may contain multiple pieces and the appropriate charge is applied separately for each piece. Each DASH piece is subject to a maximum declared value of $750."

Does this apply to live animals? Can additional insurance be purchased?

Considering the high cost of some exotic reptiles today, $750 seems almost inconsequential.
