vibrating humidifiers?

newguy88 May 12, 2005 07:11 PM

i was talking to a buddy about how to keep humidity up in a tank and he said that he used to use a little vibrating thing that you stick in a bowl of water in the tank and it vibrates quickly to throw off water into the air or something... has any one herad of them? does anyone know where i can get them online? i live in calgary, alberta.... its pretty dry for a python, and i really need a more effective way then what i am doing now

You can find them on www.reptiledepot.com I think you can look them up in supplies section under humidifiers but you need to keep it seperate from your snake. If you have a screened lid you can put it on top of that in a bowl of water and let the fog cascade down. You also need to run it on a timer for only a few minutes at a time because depending on the size cage it may make it way too humid. Use it with a humidity guage.
Plus I tried turning it on and touching it because I wanted to make sure it was safe and it kind of hurts if you put your finger on the vibrating disk it uses because it vibrates so fast. I think if a snake crawled into the water and touched it, it could injure or at least stress out the snake. I use it with lizards that won't actually go into the water with it. I would not let the snake have access to it.

Try using either a larger water bowl or a second one (can be smaller) on the warm end.

Good luck
