whose your Daddy????.........

gray May 12, 2005 08:58 PM

Yesterday morning, I had a female who was definitely showing signs of an impending birthing. I waited as long as I could but then I had to scramble to school and just barely made the late bell. My students were ready to give me detention. When I got home, I found 11 large babies and 2 unfertilized at 110 days POS. Mom is a high color (orange) "normal". The problem is dad. Who was the father? In the two months between the beginning of the breeding trial and ovulation, a Jungle male was used for the first month and a normal male was used for the second. They both were very active breeders. The Jungle male was moved (which led to Salmon Jungles) to replace a male who passed. Jungles, normals, or split litter? I know what my initial feeling is but I'm going to wait until the first shed to make my final call. As you can see below, Sierra is a high color animal. You can see her acting on her maternal instinct to move the babies and get them out of their birth sacs.

but those are some nice babies. Why not just save yourself the trouble of deciding if they are Jungles and call them all.......KEEPERS!!

Congratulations on yet another nice litter, Gray.

My first guess is number two. But, a lot of the babies have the "tailish" pattern of number one! Either way.........They are sure blowing some color!

few days ago. When things like this how do you know, and even more important how do you market them.

Disregard the nonsense I wrote previously.

I really enjoyed the birthing pics where the mom is trying to nudge them, boas are such good moms.
I won't hazard a guess as to who the father was, but I just wanted to say that both males are very nice, I love the gray coloration of the normal male.
Congrats!!!
