Cold/ flu question

aokage100 May 13, 2005 11:56 PM

I am not too sure but I think my Blue Beauty Snake may have a cold. I noticed squeaky breathing from her for a while now but I was told by a local snake store owner that it's not serious until you see bubbles coming out of her nose/mouth. Is this correct? Can some one please describe the symptoms of a cold and a flu for me? At what point should I take her to the vet? Also, how are colds/flus caused? Is it because of not enough heat? Thank you so much for any help you can provide.

Has your snake shed recently?Loose stuck shed can make them sound that way.
If that's not the case try raising the temps a few degrees and make sure there is plenty of humidity. If it is a respitory infection that should help.
Bubbles of snot or gaping of the mouth to breathe is something you need to look out for.If it gets to that take your snake to a vet....Paul

She just shed yesterday and she sounds a better. She's still alittle squeaky though so I will follow your advice on the temperature. Thanks again for the help.
