Boa and Python

DBLOCK May 14, 2005 12:03 AM

Hi, I currently own a 4 ft. ball python, and am looking to buy another red tail. I am looking at a CB Female, 6 feet in length and was curious if the red tail could be housed with the ball temporarily for about 3 months, the cage is large enough currently to accomodate both animals, but I am unsure of any health risks to either snake, all advice will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

That should be reason enough not to house them together. It may be very rare, still reason enough.

Others will post and I'm sure give plenty of good reasons NOT to house the two together.

Just as Al said, one of many reasons NOT to house snakes together.

Thanks very much guys, I did house the two species together as infants in the past then separated them at about a year, was unsure if it was a good idea or not, thanks for the feedback, you saved a snake =]

I would never keep two snakes in the same cage. It's just not good for them.

You said you were just getting the boa, right? It is always a good idea to quarantine any new snake. For boa's I keep them in quarantine for at least a year. Just cause somethings can take longer to show up in a boa.

Have a good day!
