Baby Crested Geckos!!!

sallie_keeper May 14, 2005 02:08 AM

Hi all, happy to let you all know, my crested gecko eggs hatched today..(I posted about them couple months ago)... Anyhoo.. They seem to be doing great.. HUGH HEADS!!! Both are very red with flame pinstripe on back, one is lighter in color than other, althought this may change with time...

Couple questions:

When do I take them out of the incubator?? I have not distrubed them yet.

What temps do I keep them at?? I know adults are room temps, but do hatchlings need higher temps/humidity?? Do they need top heat? Or can they deal with under tank heating pad?? I need to decide which tank they will go into, and this helps narrow down the choices...

Lastly, Since they were born on Friday the 13th, anyone have any cool suggestions about names (yes I name my critters)

Just had to shout...

remove from the incubator asap
room temp ( artificial lighting if neccesary) keep 70-78 degrees
no under tank heater
smalllllll cages ( small critter keepers) i would not suggest putting them in anything larger than 5 gallons for the first few months.
paper towel substrate and simple cage decorations for atleast the first couple of weeks to monitor eating and pooping activity
feed crested gecko diet or small 1 week crickets
