Rodney, I saw your degree and it tells me much....
Too much time behind the computer and not enough fresh air (though in California I don't see how fresh air is possible (lol).
While I understand you keep animals with expertise par excellance... It does not equate with someone who (like me) has spent thosands of hours in the woods and waters oF my native state studying plants, animals rocks etc...
Come out from behind the computer and statistics and look at what counts...when you open up enough to see and appreciate what is out there then you will understand why the rest of us ecologists (the sane ones-not the Peta Sierra bunch) are pissed off.
No set of statistics is going to show you an accurate picture of the effects of man on wildlife-you have to see it.
My degree (big joke here) is in Icthyology. I still can't figure computers.....
