baby crested geckos

jade_e_bear May 14, 2005 12:12 PM

hello,ok i have a baby crested gecko, no more then 9 cm long and 2 cm wide at it's very widest. I postd before to see how old it was and i got the reply of about a month. Anyway apparently they dont eat until after their first shed?? I was wondering if by now that would have already happened or not. because he/shes been sliding a bit and thats a possible sign of shedding. and because i don't think he/shes been eating. i finger feed it a little every night just to make sure its getting something. so yes just wanna make sure it doesnt die so gimme what ya got

thanks

i've never had a crested gecko take longer than the first 24 hours after hatching.
i would recheck your husbandry, and be sure to offer crested gecko diet, small crickets. and finnaly peach or bananna babyfood if it won't eat either of the first two. only use the last two as a snack or supplements.

But remember,if he/she is less than one month old it may not be eat crickets at all.All my babies have started to eat cricks after first month and some of them about 1,5 months old, before that they just eat babyfood (fruits) and CGD.

All mine shed within 1 1/2 days of hatching most within a day I would make sure everything in the cage is the way it should be.
